Swedish Massage promotes circulation of the blood and lymph, relaxes muscles, helps relieve pain and helps restore metabolic balance in the body. This type of massage uses mechanical manipulation of the soft tissues of the body with movements such as rubbing, kneading, pressing, rolling, tapping and other forms of tapotement.

Deep Tissue Massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronically tense and contracted areas such as stiff necks, low back tightness, and sore shoulders. Some of the same strokes are used in classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain.

Sports Massage use a variety of techniques to enhance athletic performance and includes event massage, training/conditioning massage, and restoration/rehabilitation massage. Event massage deals with pre-event massage (up to six hours before the event) to enhance muscle tone and flexibility, inter-Event massage (where an athlete is competing several times in one or multiple days) to maintain physical readiness, and post-event massage (up to six hours after an event) to decrease muscle tension and facilitate physical recovery

Chair Massage, originally known as on-site massage, offers therapeutic touch to those with minimal time in their schedule for a full-bodied table massage. It can be offered in a variety of settings and many corporations have enlisted chair massage therapists as part of an employee stress management program. This form of massage has the ability to invigorate and rejuvenate, which makes it  perfect when the sedating and relaxing effects of Swedish massage are not desired by a client.

Myofascial Therapy is a set of safe and very effective hands-on techniques that involve applying gentle sustained pressure into the Myofascial connective tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Every system of the body is surrounded and interconnected with connective tissue called fascia. Inflammation, trauma, past surgical procedures, and/or prolonged postural issues can cause the matrix of fascia to become less viscous, shortened, and stiffened. This creates a restricted range of motion and high tensile pressures on sensitive structures causing pain that cannot be detected by standard medical tests.

Each therapy session may use a variety of myofascial techniques and movement therapy (See AIS, ROM) and geared to each individuals needs. Beyond the session we promote education in proper body mechanics and movement, self treatment instruction, enhancement of strength, improved flexibility, and postural and movement awareness.

Polarity Therapy is a hands-on type of energy work that asserts that the appropriate flow and balance of energy within the human body is the foundation of good health.  Its foundation is that when the energy flow in an individuals body is blocked or unbalanced due to stress and other negative factors in an individuals life it can cause pain, disease and infirmity.  Polarity Therapy unblocks and rebalances those energy flows to help maintain optimum health and wellness.

Reiki is a non-invasive hands-on healing practice. Its origin is thought to be Tibetan; this healing practice was re-discovered by Dr. Usui in Japan during the 1920’s. It is a channeling of Universal Life force energy through the practitioner to the client. Most people find Reiki to be a very relaxing and an energizing experience.

Reflexology is a method for activating the healing powers of the body. There are zones of energy that run throughout the body, as well as reflex areas that corresponds to the major organs, glands, and body parts. Points on the feet, hands, and ears reflect the state of these different systems and organs. Reflexology reduces stress and promotes relaxation, improves lymph and blood circulation, helps detox the body, improves energy flow in the body, restores mental alertness and productivity and can be used as preventative heal care.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Failitation(PNF) is another effective technique of increasing range of motion and can be used with-in a session of done as a separate session. PNF is especially beneficial when working with athletes of following trigger-point work.

Back

Neuro Muscular Therapy (NMT) is a special manual application of specialized pressure strokes, which help allow full function of muscle and nerves to be re-established. The pressure strokes repeated several times in each location with each repetition given with increasing pressure. The technique works well in conjunction with myofascial and trigger point techniques.

Back

Trigger Point Therapy is a modality we use when there is dysfunction in a muscle found in soft tissue like muscle, fascia, ligaments, and tendons. Usually trigger points are found in areas that have been injured or damaged in some way. The therapy is applied by using pressure in the restricted area and through communicating with the client until the desired change occurs.

Positional Release makes use of body positions that move the two ends of a muscle closer together and help reset the neural sensors in the musculature, These sensors are known collectively as the proprioceptors. When a muscle goes into spasm or is stuck in a contracted state, the sensors are firing in a chaotic pattern. With the appropriate stimulus to these sensors, the muscular-skeletal system returns to a healthier state,

Active Isolated Stretching is based on new research in which you and the assisting practitioner move the body into very specific stretches that are only held for two to three seconds. Longer than three seconds and your body's own proprioceptors trigger opposing muscles to get out of the stretch.  Since you are actively participating in these gentle stretch movements you're also oxygenating and strengthening the muscles that are doing the work.

This new bodywork system was originally geared for enhancing athletic performance; but AIS delivers marvelous results for folks of all ages with past injuries, lost range of motion, or other restrictions caused by more chronic conditions.

Range of Motion and Passive Stretching (ROM) is passive manipulation on the joints of the body. This technique allows the therapist to evaluate and improve the movements of a client's joints for muscle flexibility. Other benefits include stimulation of the lymphatic pump, and assessment of and relaxation of client tension patterns. This form of evaluation and stretching can be performed fully clothed or incorporated into a massage session.

Asian Bodywork is based on the knowledge of the Chinese energy meridian system and the use of  techniques from Shiatsu, Tui na, and Qigong to disperse energy blockages and promote healthful energy flow (Qi) within the body.
